Abstract
A method and apparatus for the detection of flame by entering (S) a video signal into an algorithm which processes individual pixels in (S) a frequency band is determined and used as a filter (S) applies a threshold to create a map of significant movement (S) applies an awareness map (S) a number of parameters are calculated to decide whether flame is present in the video images being processed (S) applies further filtering before indicating an alarm registering the presence of a flame threat.
