Abstract

A method and an apparatus for regulating the operating temperature of an internal combustion engine, wherein a cooling fluid is transported in a circuit through the internal combustion engine by means of a cooling fluid pump driven by an electric motor. The electric motor can be operated with a power dissipation loss which is increased in comparison with its nominal operation and the waste heat produced in that situation is transmitted to the cooling fluid.
