Abstract

A technique is provided for automatically and visually generating a display rule for a structured document based on an exemplary operation. Base display rule generation meansgenerates a first display rule, which is a base, by using a document type definitionfor a structured documentand a default generation rulethat is determined in advance. Display document generation meansemploys the first display ruleand the structured documentto generate a first display documentand an element correlation file. Tie first display documentis edited in a display document visual editing environment, and a second display documentand an editing operation history fileare generated. Display rule updating meansrefers to the second display document, the editing operation history file, the element correlation fileand the structured documentto generate a second display rulethat reflects the editing contents.
