Abstract
A device for the protection of the legs of a vehicle occupant in the event of a frontal impact of the vehicle. In the leg area, cuff plates () are arranged on a central tube () in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The cuff plates carry a load distributor () at their free end, and absorb the impact energy of the legs of the vehicle occupants in the event of the frontal impact. Load distributortransfers the impact energy present to cuff plates, which then roll away and thus remove energy.
