Abstract
An image pickup apparatus includes an image pickup element for picking up an optical image; a trigger circuit for initiating an image pickup by the image pickup element; and a control circuit which incorporates a preparation step for preparing an image pickup prior to initiation of an image pickup by the trigger circuit and a judge step responsive to the trigger circuit and included in the preparation step for omitting the following preparation step and initiating an image pickup.
