Abstract
The invention relates to a system for determining the gear selection utilizing a selection lever in an automatic transmission having at least two units () for detecting the selection lever position (). Each unit () generates a signal corresponding to the detected selection lever position (). The system also has a device for evaluating the signals. Based on the signals, the gear selection can be determined while considering plausibility rules. The invention relates further to a method for determining the gear selection utilizing a selection lever in an automatic transmission.
