Abstract
An electronically tunable planar antenna, a wireless communication device, and a method of tuning an antennain which a high band elementand a low band elementeach have a resonant center frequency. At any given time, the antennahas two center resonant frequencies and thus allows the device to operate at two frequencies simultaneously. In addition, tuning circuitsare connected to the low band elementand the high band element, respectively. The tuning circuitselectronically change the resonant center frequency of the corresponding element. Accordingly, in the devicethe method, and the antenna one or both of the center frequencies can be changed to permit operation at more than two frequencies.
