In an optical recording mediumcomprising groove tracksincluding a first area Ba for recording record information and a second area Ca in which predetermined data is formed as embossed pit rowsand a readout of other data overwritten and recorded on said embossed pit rowsis prevented, and land tracksformed between the adjacent groove tracks, a depth Ed and a duty of the embossed pit rowsare set so that a radial push-pull signal in the first area and a radial push-pull signal in the second area become the substantially same level.
