Abstract
A polisher for polishing a curved surface such as a concave surface of a spectacle lens has a structure in which a polishing padcomprising water passing grooveshaving a width W of 0.1 to 5 mm is adhered to a dome-shaped elastic base member. The polishing padis composed of a plurality of pads, and the water passing groovesare formed at the gaps between the pads, whereby the width W of the water passing groovesare made small. It is effective to make the padspolygonal in shape. The polishing padcovers the moving regionof the workto be polished. The polishing padis adhered through a high-tack adhesive layer. A polishing method is adopted in which such a polisheris used and the workis polished by pressing the polishing padagainst the work, whereby the polishing padadhered to the elastic base membercan be prevented from being stripped by an end edge of the work, and generation of defective polish can be prevented.
