Abstract
An operating device for doors, windows, etc. comprises a rosette () for holding a rotating handle () whose head () contains a lock cylinder () with an axially displaceable locking bolt () that is axially spring-loaded and automatically assumes an engaging position at a defined angle of rotation of the handle () by sliding over a stepped locking sleeve () of the rosette (). The lock cylinder () has a core () with a radial opening () in a non-rotating wall () for controlled movement of a spindle () that radially extends from the locking bolt () which engages the locking sleeve in defined angular positions of the handle (). The opening () extends over a peripheral angle of e.g. 180° to 220°, and is a contoured window having a lower flat segment (), a depression () and a steeper segment (flank). On top, two straight edge sections () run out at a vertical intermediate edge () above the depression (), with lateral edges of the opening () forming stops for the spindle (). If the key S is in the cylinder (), pivoting the handle () from a horizontal position into an upward position (12 o'clock) requires two-hand operation. As the handle () is turned down into a transverse position (3 o'clock or 9 o'clock), the locking bolt () engages behind a tangential stop () under spring load, whether or not the key (S) is in the lock cylinder ().
