Abstract

A spindle motor that can be reduced in size and thickness and yet develops a high rotational torque, and an information recording and/or reproducing apparatus employing this spindle motor. A rotor R includes a turntablewhich carries and secures a disc-shaped recording medium D and which is rotatable relative to a fixed shaftvia a bearing, a ring-shaped first magnetsecured to the turntableand arranged inwardly of a coilhaving the fixed shaftas center, and a ring-shaped second magnetsecured to the turntableand arranged outwardly of the coilhaving the fixed shaftas center. The rotor R is rotated relative to the stator S, by a magnetic field generated in the coilon supplying the current to the coiland another magnetic field generated between the first and second magnetsand
