Abstract

A machine tool is provided which is designed so that chips generated by the machining of a workpiece can assuredly be introduced onto a chip conveyer disposed in a trough of a bed through oil pans. The machine tool includes a column provided on one end portion of a bed () and movable along an X-axison the bed (), a spindle head () supported by the column and movable vertically up and down along a Y-axis, and a table () movable back and forth along a Z-axis with respect to the spindle head () on the bed (). The bed () has a center trough () formed in a widthwise middle portion thereof, and a pair of side troughs () formed therein on widthwise opposite sides of the center trough (). A first chip conveyer () is provided in the center trough (), and second chip conveyers () are provided in the respective side troughs (). Oil pans () extend obliquely upward outwardly from the respective side troughs () for introducing chips onto the second chip conveyers () provided in the side troughs ().
