Abstract
A process comprising reacting compound GF-I with a reducing agent to form compound GF-II wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of H, benzyl, substituted benzyl, CHOCalkyl, CHOCcycloalkyl, allyl, tetrahydropyranyl, tetra-hydrofuranyl, substituted tetrahydropyranyl, substituted tetra-hydrofuranyl, Si(Calkyl), and Si(Ph)(Calkyl)where x is equal to 1, 2 or 3; and wherein said process is conducted: (a) in the presence of a reducing agent; (b) in the presence of an aprotic solvent; and (c) under reaction conditions; is provided.
