Abstract
A systemfor selectively and rapidly preheating one or more vehicle fuel cellsduring cold start or freezing conditions. The systemincludes a bypass valve, a controller, vehicle sensorsand a bypass conduit. The controllermonitors vehicle attribute data by use of sensorsto determine whether a cold start condition exists. Based upon the attribute data, controllermay signal valveto bypass heat exchanger, and cause compressed air to be delivered directly to fuel cells, thereby heating the fuel cells
