Abstract
An optical module of the present invention includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a PD, a LD, and an optical fiber. The first substratehas a first optical waveguide coreformed therein. The second substratehas a second optical waveguide coreformed therein. The first optical waveguide coreand the second optical waveguide coreform an optical connecting portion where the first substrateand the second substrateare bonded to each other. The LDis capable of transmitting an optical signal via the second optical waveguide coreand the optical fiber. The PDis capable of receiving an optical signal which enters the second optical waveguide corefrom the optical fiber, and propagates through the first optical waveguide corevia the optical connecting portion formed between the first optical waveguide coreand the second optical waveguide core
