The invention providesmethionyl tRNA synthetase polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encodingmethionyl tRNA synthetase polypeptides and methods for producing such poypeptides by recombinant techniques. Also provided are methods for utilizingmethionyl tRNA synthetase polypeptides for the protection against infection, particularly bacterial infections.
