Abstract

An automatic printerprints a portion of a pattern onto an allocated region of a print medium, picks up the image of this printed pattern using an image pickup device, and after the image pickup, forwards the printed region portion to position a next allocated region in an effective printing region. Then, the automatic printeragain picks up the image of the above-described printed pattern using the image pickup device, and compares these two images. When these images deviate from each other, the automatic printermakes a correction, and performs printing in a state where the joint position of the pattern precedently printed and that of a pattern to be next printed conformed to each other.
