Abstract
A rotor for an interior permanent magnet machine that tends to reduce magnet chattering that includes a rotor stack defining at least one magnet retention slot and a permanent magnet positioned within the magnet retention slot, where the magnet retention slot is formed such that movement of the permanent magnet towards at least one end of the slot will tend to cause the magnet to become wedged within the slot.
