Abstract
A zero insertion force connector () uses a contact () having a unique shape which is described below. That is, the contact includes a stationary portion (A) fixed to an insulator (), a first portion (B) having a first contact point (B) and being continuous with the stationary portion, a substantially U-shaped portion (C) continuous with the first portion, a second portion (D) having a second contact point (D) and being continuous with the substantially U-shaped portion, and a movable portion (E) continuous with the second portion and engaging with an actuator () held by the insulator to be slidable along the insulator. The first and the second contact points confront each other with a gap (W) left therebetween. The actuator slides to displace the movable portion so that the first and the second contact points sandwich therebetween a connection counterpart (B) that is inserted in the gap.
