Abstract
A bill handling apparatus has a deposit/withdrawal unit () at the inner upper side of a casing (), a base unit () at the inner lower side of the casing (), and intermediate units (A-C) between the units () and (). The deposit/withdrawal unit () includes a bill introducing mechanism (), a bill discharging mechanism () and a conveying mechanism (). The base unit () includes a bill storage section (), a conveying mechanism () and a taking-in and taking-out mechanism (). Each of the intermediate units (A-C) includes a bill storage section (), a conveying mechanism (), a taking-in and taking-out mechanism () and a switcher for switching a bill-moving direction. In this way, the elements forming the bill storage sections and transfer mechanisms are made common, the number of bill storage sections can be increased or decreased easily, and bills can be taken in and out of each storage section.
