Abstract
The present invention refers to a biosensor in which an immobolized carbohydrate or a derivative thereof is used to generate a detectable signal when a protein, a virus or a cell is bound to the carbohydrate surface. The sensor is an optical sensor, a piezoelectric sensor, an electrochemical electrode or a thermistor. A method of binding carbohydrates to a gold surface is also described.
