Abstract
A coated cemented carbide insert (cutting tool), particularly useful for milling at high cutting speeds in alloyed steels, tool steels and milling in hardened steels includes a WC—Co cemented carbide containing NbC and TaC and a W-alloyed binder phase, and a coating including an inner layer of TiAlN, 0.8<x+y<1.2, with 0.25<x/y<1.45, with columnar grains.
