Abstract
The present invention comprises a simplified synthesis of (+)-diltiazem through IE-PdOsW wherein IE is ion-exchanger, catalyzed three-component coupling reaction and Fe-exchanged clay catalyzed ring opening of sulfite with 2-aminothiophenol followed by cyclization as key steps.
