Abstract
In a controller of a vehicle transmission, the transmission includes a continuously variable transmissionand a planetary gear mechanismand is coupled to an output of an engine. The transmission includes a first shift mode using only the continuously variable transmissionand a second shift mode using in combination the continuously variable transmissionand the planetary gear mechanism The controller determines the shift mode based on load of the engineaccording to a required output and an input/output revolution speed ratio γ of the continuously variable transmission, and switches between the above two shift modes at the predetermined input/output revolution speed ratio.
