Abstract

A gas powered soldering tool () comprising a handle () and a tubular carrier member () extending therefrom. A combustion chamber () is formed in a distal end () of the carrier member () within which a catalytic combustion element () of cylindrical construction is located. Fuel gas/air mixture is supplied to the combustion chamber () through the carrier member (). A receiving member () is crimped onto the carrier member () at the distal end thereof and releasably carries a soldering tip tool (). A spigot () extending from the soldering tip tool () into the combustion chamber () conducts heat from the combustion chamber () to a soldering tip portion () of the soldering tool tip (). A plug member () of the soldering tool tip () is threaded for engaging corresponding threads in a bore () of the receiving member () for facilitating replacement of the soldering tool (). The soldering tool () can be replaced without the need for replacing the catalytic combustion element () and without the risk of damage to the catalytic combustion element ().
