Abstract
The invention is directed to a method for operating an internal combustion engine () wherein a fault of a pressure system with a pressure sensor () is determined by a first diagnostic system (') of the engine (). The pressure sensor () is especially a pressure sensor of a high pressure fuel system of the engine. For a plausibility consideration of a pressure system fault, which is determined by the first diagnostic system (′), at least one further diagnostic system (′) of the engine () is checked as to a second fault.
