Abstract

A pole bridle () for facilitating the manipulation of a pole () by a hoist includes plates () configured for placement in spaced-relation about the pole (). Retaining members () are coupled to an outer surface () of the plates (). The retaining members () are configured to retain a flexible member () of the hoist in encircling-relation about the pole (). An upward force () imposed on the flexible member () creates a transverse force () on the plates () to direct the plates () against the pole (). The transverse force () largely prevents the plates () from slipping along the pole () as the upward force () incrementally extracts the pole () from a fixed, upright position in the ground ().
