Abstract
A blowout preventer assemblyincludes opposed rams, each including a rubber or elastomer sealing assembly, with a plurality of insertsforming an arrayof metal inserts within each sealing assembly. Each insert has an upper body, a lower body, and a rib. Each upper and lower body includes a trailing face, a radially outward opposite faceand a leading face. An antiextrusion ledgeminimizes the extrusion gap between the OD of a tubular in the BOP and the leading face of the metal inserts in the array.
