Abstract
In the process according to the invention for the manufacture of an alkanesulphonyl chloride RCH—SOCl by oxidative chlorolysis of the corresponding mercaptan RCH—SH, the mercaptan and water are introduced into the reaction mixture in the form of a dispersion of water in the mercaptan. This makes it possible to obtain both an alkanesulphonyl chloride of very good quality and a hydrochloric acid of commercial grade.
