Abstract

The present invention provides a binaphthol compound represented by formula [1]:and a salt thereof. The binaphthol compound of the present invention is useful for manufacturing antiseptic compounds or chiral catalysts. According to the method of the present invention, binaphthol compounds can be prepared in high yield with low cost.
