Abstract

An elevator system () includes a guide rail bracket () attached to a single hoistway wall (). Car guide rails () and counterweight guide rails () are fixed to the bracket (). The counterweight guide rails () are positioned in between the car guide rails () so that the counterweight () can translate therebetween. The elevator car () is supported by rope () and sheave () members coupled to a traction drive ().
