Abstract

A hand-held electrical device () such as a mobile telephone, includes a carrier () formed by a thick (over 2 mm) plate of insulative material having a plurality of recesses that receive electronic components. The periphery of the carrier forms most of the periphery of the electronic device. A circuit board () with traces thereon lies facewise adjacent to a face of the carrier. Electronic components lying in recesses of the carrier, are connected by resilient blades to conductive traces on the circuit board.
