Abstract

An electronically commutated motor contains a rotor position determination, which detects a surface at which the rotor and stator poles ( through through ) diametrically oppose one another. The total surface is taken into consideration in the position determination. The pole angles (&bgr; , &bgr; ) of the stator and rotor poles ( through through ) are each set to values at which a rotor rotation results in a surface change.
