Abstract
A service unit for restarting a spinning operation at work stations ( ) of an open-end spinning machine ( ) after replacement of a cheese ( ) with an empty tube in the winding device of a work station, comprises an auxiliary yarn supply device ( ) and a yarn moving device ( ) for fixing a new spinning yarn on the tube. The yarn moving device ( ) is movable from a resting position (R) entraining the auxiliary yarn ( ) to the winding device ( ), and, after restarting the spinning operation, for positioning the yarn ( ) connected to the auxiliary yarn ( ) in a slot created by a tube plate opener ( ) of the service unit between one of the tube plates ( ) of the winding device ( ) and an end of the tube ( ). The yarn ( ) is subsequently severed by a cutting device ( ), and stored intermediately in a storage device ( ).
