Abstract
An emergency locking console assembly ( ) for automatically locking in a closed position during a vehicular collision is provided. The assembly ( ) includes an open-topped container ( ) that is coupled to a vehicle ( ). This container ( ) has a lid ( ) couple thereto for enclosing various items within the assembly ( ). In addition, the assembly ( ) includes an inertia actuated locking mechanism ( ) coupled to the container ( ) for the purpose of automatically engaging the lid ( ) and locking the assembly ( ) in a closed position during a vehicular collision.
