Abstract

An embroidery stitching sewing machine is disclosed, the sewing machine substantially comprising pattern selecting means for optionally selecting a desired embroidery pattern to be stitched from a plurality of different patterns memorized, an X-direction moving mechanism which is accommodated in the machine housing and is operated to move in X-direction between a position adjacent the standard of sewing machine and a position spaced from the position adjacent the standard, a Y-direction drive attachment A holding an embroidering frame on which a work to be stitched is set, the Y-direction drive attachment A being optionally selected from a plurality of Y-direction drive attachments , each of which is provided with a different type of Y-direction moving mechanism and is detachably mounted to the output potion of X-direction moving mechanism , wherein the X-direction moving mechanism and the selected Y-direction drive attachment A of Y-direction drive attachment are operated in synchronism with the vertical movement of the machine needle under the control of data to form stitches in the stitching area determined by the X-direction moving mechanism and the selected Y-direction drive attachment A.
