Abstract

Database system ( ) which comprises a fractal hierarchical index database ( ), and a processing unit ( ). The processing unit ( ) is employed to evaluate an input string ( ) describing an element (E ) that is to be added to the database system ( ) in order to obtain an input network ( ) comprising a semantical unit (SU ) representing the element (E ). Then the processing unit ( ) updates the index database ( ). Finally, either an existing access pointer ( ) is maintained, or a new access pointer ( ) is created between the element (E ) and the semantical unit (SU ) representing the element (E ) thereby rendering the element (E ) in the database system ( ) accessible or retrievable.
