Abstract
A computation expression is stored by which an emission time period for obtaining a predetermined amount of emitted light is obtained by using temperature as a variable. An emission time period is obtained from a temperature on the basis of this computation expression. When a red-eye prevention mode is selected and when preliminary light emission and main light emission are performed continuously, the emission time period for main light emission is adjusted by detecting the voltage across a main capacitor through a voltage monitor. If a reference emission time period Tf is shorter than a predetermined time period of 30 &mgr;sec, the emission time is adjusted according to information including t0 corresponding to an emission delay time.
