Abstract
A network device included in a local area network is controlled with an outside telephone. A telephone line is directly connected to a router incorporated in a local area network including a computer . A server is connected to the telephone line , and the telephone line is also used as the Internet . The outside telephone makes a call to the router through the telephone line while the router detects the phone call to send a packet for activation to the computer to activate the device in the wait state. The computer after the activation requests the server to allow its connection to the Internet , obtains a network address in the Internet , and notifies the network address to the outside telephone . Thereafter, data is exchanged between the telephone and the computer
