A security card is provided in which an ink region bearing image or textural data is printed onto a substrate . A reflective portion is also provided on the substrate . A plastic protective layer deposited over the ink and reflective element . Portions of the layer are overworked in order to change their appearance. Those portions overlying the reflective element exhibit enhanced visibility
