Abstract

A linear motor has a support portion laterally bridged between a plurality of armatures and a shifter side base portion located on a shifter side, for moving along a stator in such a state that a distance between the shifter side base portion and the stator is almost constantly maintained, and the support portion is supported by the shifter side base portion so as to determine a gap between the armature and a magnet . Then, the gap between the armature and the magnet of the stator is properly maintained.
