Abstract
A controller for an exhaust brake device is provided whereby the braking force of the exhaust brake device can be ensured sufficiently, even at low vehicle speeds. A controller for an exhaust brake device ( ) used in combination with a power transmission device comprising a fluid coupling ( ) connected to the output shaft ( ) of an engine (E), a clutch ( ) interposed between the fluid coupling ( ) and a gearbox (T/M), and a lock-up clutch ( ) for mechanically disengaging and engaging the fluid coupling ( ), is provided, and this controller is provided with an electronic control unit ( ) for controlling the engagement and disengagement of the lock-up clutch ( ) and the operation of the exhaust brake device ( ). The electronic control unit ( ) permits operation of the exhaust brake device ( ) in the range of engagement of the lock-up clutch ( ).
