Abstract
An apparatus and method for compressing and compressing text based messages. A TCCB layer is added to a mobile device and P-CSCF At the sending device, the TCCB compression method is invoked to remove all redundant header information contained in a message to be transmitted. When the TCCB compression method detects that a header's contents are the same as previously sent or received for a particular sequence, the TCCB method blanks the header contents. At the receiving device, when the TCCB layer receives a message with blank header contents, the TCCB decompression method is invoked to reconstruct the header from its cache
