Abstract
The present invention provides an optical disc playback apparatus which realizes the scan search in which the scan search time for performing the scan search of plural programs having different playback data transfer bit rates is proportional to the real playback time of each program. In the scan search for playing back necessary data among audio/video data from an optical disc which is rotated by a spindle motor using an optical pickup , a system control unit reads title set management information from a title set management information storage unit , and obtains last position data, initial position data and the playback time of each program including the necessary data. The address amount of relative motion per one scan search operation in each program is decided on the basis of a value which is obtained by subtracting the initial position data of the program from the last position data, and dividing the subtraction result by the playback time of the program. These processes are applied similarly to each program.
