Abstract

A manufacturing fixture ( ) for manufacturing a permanent magnet ( ) for an actuator motor ( ) of a disk drive ( ) is provided herein. The manufacturing fixture ( ) includes a fixture cavity ( ) which receives the magnet powder ( ) and an orientating device ( ) which generates flux lines ( ) which extend across the fixture cavity ( ). The fixture cavity ( ) includes a cavity axis ( ), a cavity transition ( ) and a cavity perimeter ( ). Importantly, the flux lines ( ) extend substantially transverse to the cavity axis ( ) near the cavity transition ( ) and the cavity perimeter ( ) and substantially parallel with the cavity axis ( ) intermediate the cavity transition ( ) and the cavity perimeter ( ). This allows for a magnet ( ) having higher magnetic flux densities at the sides ( ) ( ) ( ), and higher average magnetic flux densities in the magnet ( ).
