This invention proposes an on/off switching device for a battery-powered electric or electronic apparatus or component. The apparatus or component encompasses a battery compartment ( ) as well as a battery holder assembly ( ) by means of which the battery ( ) can be rotated out of and extended from the compartment. In the extended position of the holder, the battery can be turned in and/or with the holder.
