Abstract
A high intensity discharge lamp assembly ( ) has improved thermal venting. The discharge light source ( ) is housed within a reflector body ( ). Recesses ( ) are circumferentially spaced around an open end ( ) of the reflector body. A containment structure ( ″) provides a structure that serves the containment function without interfering with the thermal venting.
