Abstract

The optical component comprises a first element ( ) having a light-emission surface ( ) and a second element ( ) having a light-entrance surface ( ), a bonding layer ( ) interconnecting the elements ( ) being provided between said surfaces ( ). The bonding layer ( ) is an optically transparent layer of paraffin, which efficiently couples light from the first element ( ) into the second element ( ) and carefully positions said elements ( ) with respect to each other. In the method of manufacturing the optical component, the first element ( ) and the second element ( ) are fitted together by joining the surfaces ( ) so as to form a capillary space ( ), which capillary space ( ) is filled by making it suck up liquid paraffin, the paraffin is allowed to cool and solidified in order to form an optically transparent bonding layer ( ) of paraffin in the capillary space ( ).
