Abstract

An AV data recording/reproducing apparatus which has a recording section for recording AV data, e.g., a disk array section. Each frame unit is edited to generate editing result information. The AV data is read from the disk array section on the basis of the editing result information to reproduce the edited AV data. A command analysis section receives various linear editing commands generated by a linear editing machine for generating editing information and from which a command is produced to generate the editing result information. Thus, an editing operation using a familiar linear editing machine can be performed.
