Abstract

An arrangement for data transfer between a desk top personal computer ( ) and a peripheral or other data processing device ( ) comprises a transfer pad ( ) which comprises two conductive plates ( ) which is connected to the personal computer ( ) via a lead ( ). The peripheral or other data processing device ( ) has a transfer pad ( ) which comprises two conductive pads ( ) attached to or forming part of the lower wall of its housing. For data transfer to occur the two transfer pads are brought into close proximity so that they provide a capacitative coupling between the personal computer ( ) and the peripheral or other data processing device ( ).
